Peace: Can We Attain It?

Great peace have thy that love thy law: and nothing shall offend them (Psalm 119:165).

As I watched the news on television last night about the turmoil in the Middle East, I was tempted to wonder when will there be peace in the Middle East and other troubled regions in the world. And as I found myself drifting away with those thoughts, I felt a quickening of the Spirit and many Scriptures on God’s peace came to my mind.

I quickly remembered what Jesus said about wars and rumours of wars that must be, and that we must not be troubled, for all these things must come to pass, but it is not yet the end. I remembered too, that Jesus promises us peace, “not as the world gives but the peace that passes all understanding” (Philippians 4:7).

The Scriptures tell us too that “they who love God’s law have great peace and nothing will offend them…” The Scriptures also tell us that “he who refreshes others, refreshes himself,” therefore it would do us and all regions in war a good by spending quality time in declaring the manifest peace of God in the world.

God is preparing a new world and as we watch His law for a new world unfolding, let us seek the Spirit of God to quicken the peace of Christ that is within us and speak it for the Middle East and all other regions that are at war. Pray the peace of God as a condition that already exists and will soon be made manifest in the world. And pray it in the mighty name of Jesus.

Peace is from God. It is a fruitage of the Spirit and the Kingdom of God which is righteousness, peace and joy. And despite how many peace treaties are signed by governments and countries, only God gives peace. As followers of Christ, we have a blessed hope of a time of peace profound when Jesus comes and delivers it fully.

“Heavenly Father, we know your peace exists. Help us keep our eyes steadfast on you for your righteousness, peace and joy and in your timing, we shall see that peace that passes all understanding, and your Kingdom on earth. Amen.”
