How Our Father Performs His Work Through You

“Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me?…but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works” (John 14:10 KJV).

Jesus pleads with His audience to believe that He is in the Father and the Father is in Him, then goes on to say that the words He speaks are not of Himself but of His Father who dwells in Him and does the works. This powerful statement helps us into a deeper understanding of who Jesus really is.

It also helps us know that our Father indwells us as well.

At another time, Jesus revealed that “of Himself, He could do nothing; as He hears, He judges and He seeks not His own will but that of the Father.” Jesus did whatever He saw our Father do, meaning He caught the message or instruction by an inner perception and we, as followers of Jesus, could imitate this virtue by praying for a greater awareness of what our Father is saying to us.

Whenever we pursue excellence, in whatever good works we put our hands to, whether it be spiritual or natural, it is a move of the Father within us, revealing to us that we could do better, not only for ourselves but also for the sake of His Kingdom.

And as followers of Jesus, we are to imitate Him in claiming all healing, teaching, preaching and good deeds as the works of God, the Father made manifest in the world and in our lives.

When you realize God is calling on you to accomplish something, whether for yourself or for the body of Christ, and you encounter difficulty, go to your Father within and roll the situation over to Him, asking Him to perform His works through you. From a worldly point of view, this might seem passive but it is not; it is being active…spiritually active.

Will you consider to begin practicing this new and living way? Our Father is always ready to guide, direct and perform whatever concerns us. He will walk us through the steps.
